Looks like the folks at PAWS Bear Club had a grand old time at
the Great British Bear Bash this summer. They noticed increased
attendance from bears outside the UK, including Canada, the US, France
and Denmark. Fortunately, as the PAWS folks tell us, "the increased
numbers did not take away from the friendly, 'personal' nature of the
event, and many new friendships were forged." With activities ranging
from pool games, to a bear-filled sauna (woof!), to a number of bar
events, we bet they'll have a strong turnout next year! And did we
mention that woofy Andy Garcia was
named Mr. Bear Manchester? He went on to win Mr. Bear UK this
September.
Meanwhile on the other side of the world, Bears of San Francisco
(BOSF) are gearing up to participate in the Folsom Street Fair on
September 26. If you're at the fair, take a minute to visit the BOSF
booth and pick up a tasty beverage! While you're there, wish 'em a
happy birthday -- these busy bears just celebrated the 5th anniversary
of their club. Congrats guys!!

Speaking of anniversaries, Bears Ventura also just hit the big
"5". Their September newsletter describes plans for quite a party: a
cocktail reception, full buffet dinner, "Bear Disco", champagne brunch
the next morning, a beach party, and who-knows-what-else. It all took
place last week, but we bet those guys are still recovering.
;)
OK, get out your notepads and write this down: the next big bear trend
is bear bowling. Yes folks, you heard it here first. Not one but three
southern bear clubs are at the forefront of this trend, as evidenced by
their series of bowling tournaments.

|
On August 21, representatives
from the Southern Bears, the Appalachian Bear Club, and
Lookout Bears descended on an Atlanta bowling alley to play with
their balls and knock down a whole lot of pins. The Southern Bears
newsletter tells of their first-place victory, with SB member Robby
bowling a 201 in one of his games. (Personal to Robby: how 'bout some
private lessons? <grin>) Meanwhile, ABC's newsletter tells of a
second-place win for their highly-talented team. Will the ABC team
overtake the Southern-ers? Will the Lookout Bears come out
on top? Or will SB do a two-peat? Find out when ABC hosts the next
tournament on Oct. 23rd in Knoxville.

Speaking of the Southern Bears: their webmaster, known as "the Duke of
URL", mentions that they have a new internet domain for the club.
Since we love puns - especially bad ones - we thought we'd mention it
too. The club's web page can now be found at www.southernbears.org. So
surf on over there and pay 'em a visit.

And finally, something from the Bear X-Files: While sifting through a
mountain of bear newsletters, our attention was grabbed by this
headline: "How to Judge a Tit". It appeared in Kansas City Cave
Bears newsletter, "The Cavern Chronicle". It tells the tale of a
fateful tit, er, trip to the Bear Tits contest in Topeka, one fine July
night. This event was sponsored by the Junction City Teddy
Bears.
Wayne from KCCB reports:
As the
eight contestants paraded through the bar, the judges were busy
scrutinizing the chests, and scribbling their votes. Much to their
surprise, an ambitious lesbian had decided to enter the contest.
Naturally, she got the votes for size, but lost out on the hair count
aspect...

|
|
Wayne goes on to tell us that a "nice
black bear" was eventually crowned as "Mr. Bear Tits". Congratulations
fella! (Unfortunately, we never learned how one should judge a bear
tit. Would any "experts" like to share their wisdom with
us?) Meanwhile we've heard rumors that a certain lesbian
is purchasing large amounts of Rogaine to prepare for next year's
re-match. Uh-oh. Stay tuned, tit-lovers!
