IBR Photos Available at Shutterbear.com

Some of the IBR contestants

If you couldn't make it to this year's IBR weekend in San Francisco, now you can see what you missed. Lynn Ludwig has posted several dozen pictures from the event on his excellent website, shutterbear.com. Lots of beards, furry chests, smiles and... oh yes, and a "dragapella beautyshop quartet". Thanks Lynn!!

Beach Needed for FurFest 2001

From Larry and Jason of the East Coast Bears club:

Hi guys,

Last month we found out that the private beach we used for the Beach Party
at FurFest for the past 3 years is no longer available to us. The owner
has sold the property.

What we are looking for is another private location at which to hold the
BBQ/Party. If you know of anyone in or around Fredericton who owns a
private beach or private backyard pool or something along those lines,
please contact us. We would be willing to rent something if necessary, at
a reasonable rate.

If we are unable to find a private location, the BBQ/Party will be held at
the Mactaquac Provincial Park. They have a beach there, but it is, of
course, a public one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bear Youth Article in American Bear

The latest issue of American Bear magazine features an article by frequent RfB contributor Ron Suresha (right). Titled "From Boomer Bears to Gen-X Bears to Bear Youth," the article is an excerpt from a panel discussion between Suresha, Terry Jamro (Chapter Development Director for Gen-X Bears International), Brian Kearns (webmaster at BearYouth.org), and Heath McKay (International Mr. Bear 2000). The current issue of the magazine is available in many gay bookstores (see amabear.com for more info.) The article will also appear in Ron's forthcoming book, Bears on Bears from Alyson Publications.

Bear Club Birthdays: HOT Bears and Empire Bears

Oh, to be a member of the Heart of Texas Bears. They're celebrating the club's third anniversary in style on March 9th with cocktails, dinner and a Bear Bust to cap off the evening. (Drinks, food and bears -- what could be better?) Meanwhile up north, the Empire Bears will be getting together to mark their club's fifth birthday with an all-day event on March 10th. If you'll be around Rochester, NY that weekend, check out the club's website for all the details. Happy anniversary to both clubs!

New Woof!

Roughcub tells us that the new issue of Woof! magazine is now available. He adds that they're always looking for new models and fiction writers.

Bear Run Updates: Bears in the Keys and TBRU

Early registration just ended for Bears in the Keys. You can still register now and get the medium price ($25 more than the early registration). The next registration deadline is May 31st. If you're still making up your mind about whether to go, check out Denny Colvin's report on last year's BITK.

And this came in from Evan Smith about Texas Bear Round-Up (TBRU):

Howdy Bears...

Well it is here. Registrations for TBRU postmarked before March 1 are
aligible for a discount rate of $75.00. Any postmarked March 1 or after will
need to pay the full rate of $90.00. For a printable registration form, link
to http://www.tbru.org and click on registration. If you wish to pay online,
you may do so using the paypal link on the registration page. If you do pay
online, you must still print out the registration form and mail it in.

Final registration deadline is still March 16. There will be no on-site
registrations and no single event entry allowed. we are still very much on
track to surpass last years registrations, so you do not want to delay
getting yours in to ensure you will receive all the amenities included with
your registration. The Dallas Bears are wrking very hard to make this a run
that all will enjoy with our schedule of events posted on the website along
with special surprises throughout the weekend!

As for hotel registration, rooms are continuing to fill up, but there is
still some availability. To guarantee the TBRU rate of $73.00 per night (4
per room), you must call the Sheraton Brookhollow direct at 214/630-7000
between 8 am and 7 pm CST. Ask them not to switch you to the 800
registration line. If you encounter difficulty in making your reservation
direct with the hotel, call the Sheraton's sister hotel, the Radisson at
214/634-8850 to make your reservation. they will be happy to assist.

We really look forward to having as many of you join us in Dallas March 29 -
April 1 for the best TBRU ever!

Big Bear hugs............Evan
